    Support for not drilling in Aotearoa and other places;

    Aloha nui kakou,

He leo aloha a he leo kakoo keia i ka poe oiwi o ke ao. Eia au me oukou ke kauleo aku nei i ka poe wili aila e kapae i ka manao e wili ma ke kai o Aotearoa a ma na wahi e ae o ka honua e hoopilikia ia nei e keia mau hui nui o ka makee a me ka ino. Aole kakou e haawi pio, aole e ae aku i ka hoohaumia ana mai o lakou i ko kakou mau aina e noho aloha ai.

This is a voice of aloha and support to indigenous peoples the world over. I stand here with you as we implore the oli drillers to put an end to their plans to drill in the seas of Aotearoa and the other places on the earth that are being troubled by these companies that act with greed and selfishness. We will not give up and we will not allow the desecration of our lands that we live on with aloha.

o wau iho no me ke aloha,
    Hina Kneubuhl

To the Maori Communities, the Indigenous Peoples and Citizens of Aotearoa,

Climate SOS in North America stands in solidarity with you in opposing the mining projects threatening your communities. The further exploration for fossil fuel energy while in the midst of a global planetary climate crisis is inherently dangerous, reckless, and irresponsible and only serves to further our societies addiction to fossil fuels, while delaying the imperative of a zero carbon society.

We also oppose nuclear bombs/missiles, depleted uranium weapons, etc. We oppose all fossil fuels for energy, as well as false solutions such as large scale biofuels, biomass energy, ‘clean coal’, etc. We insist that drastic reductions of energy demand, through conservation and efficiency, combined with truly clean renewable energy, is the only way to avert climate and ecological disasters, and this requires a radical realignment of human existence in nature, and a radical restructuring of economic activities/relationships that removes greed and profiteering from the driver’s seat of our policy and decision making.

    In solidarity,

    Climate SOS

Was in Taranaki for WOMAD – (and loved it and NZ…)
so thought of you when we came across your “meeting of the 22nd March” leaflet … and your concerns for Taranaki region …

FYI …. an Australian FOUR CORNERS – ABC – “SPECIAL” – looked at recent MINING issues in Australia / Queensland –
how it affected land owners … and what miners rights are all about ….

You may be able to have this aried on NZ TV – for all to understand better what goes on …
and you can share with your networks anyway !!

    All the best – Irene

Hi I am from Nelson and stand in total solidarity with you.
I feel very strongly about this issue and in the past months have been campaigning by collecting signatures for the Greenpeace petition “No new Oil – No new Coal” as well as organizing a “Hands across the Sand” action at Tahunanui Beach, on the anniversary of the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.

Since then the issue has all of a sudden become more local for us. A company called Greywolf has applied for a permit to explore for oil and gas in the waters adjoining Abel Tasman National Park, Golden Bay, Farewell Spit, Westhaven Inlet and the Kahurangi National Park.

A coalition of local groups and organizations opposing this has been formed and there will be a lot of action to send a clear message to Greywolf and our local council, that we don’t want this happening here – or anywhere in Aotearoa.
Would it be possible to include our local movement on your website? The facebook page is “Ours not Mine – Save Abel Tasman and Golden Bay”.

Thank you for your support and we certainly will supply photos of actions.

I can’t believe this is happening here?

I’ve just seen that my homeland (Australia) is under major threat from this and now that I have been living in NZ for the last 12 years I’ll do everything I can to stop it happening here for the sake of future generations.

We must let Kiwis know what this monster is capable of.

    Count me in!

    Luis

All power to your bow – this insidious development has been implemented in several areas in NZ already it seems and it has to be exposed.
Here in Canterbury and Christchurch in particular our underground water supply is the envy of the World, even though after earthquakes and liquefaction it is considered at times a curse, now imagine if that supply was hugely contaminated or volatile!
    This is crazy stuff.
